Exchange Students

The International Office at Polytech’Grenoble, Université Joseph Fourier, welcomes you to the challenge of studying abroad. We hope this opportunity to experience our university, and country will be interesting and beneficial for you and for us here in Grenoble. Overall presentation

Polytech’Grenoble is a french engineering school (Grande Ecole) accredited by the national engineering degree board (CTI). Entrance requirements for regular students are 120 ECTS credits, i.e. 2 years of university studies, and a strong selection (about 12000 student applications for 300 places per year). After 3 years of study (about 180 credits) the students get the engineering degree and the Master level. Polytech’Grenoble is a special faculty of Université Joseph Fourier.

Registration

International exchange students should download below and fill the -Application Form and Learning Agreement and sent it to the International Office of Polytech’Grenoble together with a transcript of records, a curriculum and a passport size photograph. Students who will be working on a project in a laboratory should include the name of the supervisor at Grenoble and specify the laboratory. ALL INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE REJECTED

Please note : Deadline to send back your application :
- June 1st for the autumn semester.
- November 1st for the spring semester.

We will not accept (unless previous positive discussion with us) any application forms after the above mentioned dead lines and in that case university residence housing cannot be guaranted
Exchange students in specific programmes (such as CREPUQ, TASSEP, University of California, Japanese universities within programme 8, University of Tsukuba ...) should contact their local office of international relations for further informations.

Study Programme

All the courses from the 6 departments at Polytech’Grenoble are available for exchange students. If necessary exchange students can also chose courses from the other faculties of Université Joseph Fourier even if it is not recommended due to possible timetables conflicts. We strongly recommend that all the courses shall be choose in the same year of study of the same department. In order to get academic recognition for your studies in France and ensure that you do not lose any credits, you have to discuss your study programme with your supervisor at your home university. Do not hesitate to contact the head of the department at Polytech’Grenoble if you need more information about specific courses. Your home university has to agree with the subject combinations in order to sign the learning Agreement. Please pay attention that some changes may occur after your arrival at Grenoble.

Study language

Teaching language is french for most of the courses. light French Language courses are available for free during the stay at Polytech’Grenoble and intensive French Language courses are available at a special rate for exchange students during the summer break (see CUEF). In fact all the students that whish to come for courses must be abble to follow lectures in french.

Confirmation acceptance

After processing your application you will be informed by mail about the status of your application. The acceptation letter can be used to apply for a visa before entering France (for students from country out of the Schengen zone). For those students we accept the mail will include information about accomodation, and the Housing Application procedure. You will be emailed by the office for the student housing (CROUS) in order to notify you the University housing possibilities. Please pay attention to respect the dead line they will notify you and to choose a category in a student residence in order to be sure to have a room on arrival.
